Countdown to 2017 HOF Inductions: Martín Dihigo

Our countdown continues toward Iván ‘Pudge’ Rodríguez’s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Next up, Martín Dihigo, the first Cuban player enshrined, a Negro League star who was called the Latin American Babe Ruth for his prowess as a hitter and pitcher.

“He was the best ballplayer of all time, black or white,” said fellow Hall of Famer, Buck Leonard.

His nickname says it all. El Maestro. The Master. In Spanish, there’s no bigger honor.
