Countdown to 2017 HOF Inductions: Pedro Martínez

Slight, fearless and magnificent. Pedro Martínez was as good as they come, a dominating right-handed pitcher during an era when it rained home runs. The first Latino to win the pitching Triple Crown. The first Latino pitcher to 3,000 strikeouts. The third-best ERA+ in history.

On induction weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, we pause to celebrate El grande, the 12th Latino and second Dominican enshrined at Cooperstown.

One more immortal to go, Iván ‘Pudge’ Rodríguez. Imagine that, Pedro and Pudge in a game together. That’s truly a battery for the ages.
