2017 – Javier Baez hit two home runs and Willson Contreras hit a blast almost 500 feet as the Cubs avoided elimination in Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers.
2004 – One of the most incredible – and longest – ALCS games ever was played. The game took 5 hours, 49 minutes and 471 pitches to complete. Pinch-runner Dave Roberts stole second base with Mariano Rivera on the mound before scoring the tying run on Bill Mueller’s single. Boston DH David Ortiz finished the comeback with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning. Ortiz became the first player in history to hit two walk-off home runs during the postseason.
1977 – “Mr. October” was born when Reggie Jackson hit three consecutive home runs in Game 6 of the World Series.
