Vladi Jr finally goes yard, Springer goes for a run, #chapmanswagg in full effect

Vladi breaks through
The start of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.‘s major league career hasn’t been what many – including the young phenom – had hoped. But on Tuesday night in San Francisco the dam broke and he finally went deep.
With his first home run, Vladi Jr. moves past current Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge in the Toronto record books.
Vladi liked the feel of that first homer so much he came back and did it again later.
In 2007, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. hit his share of home runs in San Francisco. He won the Home Run Derby at the Giants’ home 12 years ago. Maybe Vladi Jr. was taking notes back then?
#VladJr hit his first two homers at the same stadium where his dad won the 2007 Home Run Derby.

Fan Post of the Day
We’re bumping up the Fan Post of the Day today for obvious reasons. Fans everywhere were excited for Vladi Jr.’s first home run. And, as always, there was a proud papa celebrating his son’s success.
Mi hijo este es el primero de muchos, orgulloso de ti negro. || This is the first of many, im proud of you boy. ?? https://t.co/8zzj9iOPIY

Run, George, Run
George Springer is off to a fast start this season for the Astros. On Tuesday, he earned a home run the little league way.
New home for Kendrys
On Monday the Oakland A’s designated first baseman Kendrys Morales for assignment. Tuesday he was traded to the Yankees for cash. While we’re excited for Morales to have a new home, we’re also hoping for a speedy recovery for Jonathan Loaisiga.
The Yankees have acquired 1B/DH Kendrys Morales and cash considerations from Oakland in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Jonathan Loaisiga has been transferred to the 60-day IL.
Pro Post of the Day
We’re totally here for #Chapmanswagg and so are other players. Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman posted this tat fest photo on his Instagram on Tuesday and players, including Chapman’s former Cubs teammate Javier Báez, chimed in.
OTD
2016 – Remember the bat flip? The Rangers did. And seven months later, second baseman Rougned Odor takes exception to a hard José Bautista slide and punches the Jays’ outfielder in the face. The punch led to a bench-clearing brawl that ended with four players being ejected.
2002 – Astros bench coach Tony Peña is named manager of the Royals. Peña replaces interim skipper John Mizerock, who had taken over when Tony Muser was fired on April 29th.
1998 – The Los Angeles Dodgers acquire pitcher Manuel Barrios from the Florida Marlins in one of the biggest trades in years. The other players involved in the trade: the Marlins acquired Mike Piazza and Todd Zeile for Barrios, Gary Sheffield, Charles Johnson, Jim Eisenreich, and Bobby Bonilla.
1967 – Roberto Clemente hits three home runs and a double off the scoreboard in left-center, driving in all seven Pittsburgh runs. Unfortunately for Clemente, Tony Pérez drives in Pete Rose for the game-winning run in the 10th as the Reds top the Pirates 8-7.
1961 – The Giants hammer the Cubs 14-1 behind some incredible Latino power. Orlando Cepeda hits two home runs and drives in five, Felipe Alou hits his first grand slam and brother Matty Alou his first major league homer.
Happy birthday!
