1985 – St. Louis’ Joaquín Andújar became baseball’s first 20-game winner of the season, beating Atlanta 6-2. Andújar was the first National League pitcher to win at least 20 games in consecutive seasons since Joe Niekro in 1979-80.
1970 – Roberto Clemente posted his second consecutive five-hit game, making him the first major leaguer this century to collect 10 hits over a two-game span.
1957 – Angel Macias, a 12-year-old righthander from Monterrey, Mexico, threw a 12-inning perfect game over La Mesa, CA, including 11 strikeouts to win the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
