My Clemente: Carlos Beltrán

Of all the players from Puerto Rico, possibly no one has strived to emulate Roberto Clemente on and off the field as much as Carlos Beltrán.

One of the greatest switch-hitters in history, Beltrán is also a three-time Gold Glove outfielder and nine-time All-Star. And the recipient of the 2013 Roberto Clemente Award for his baseball academy and other projects in Puerto Rico and elsewhere.

To honor No. 21, Beltrán once went with his wife to The Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh at night after a game. Now, that’s respect.
